Masterclass: the Demand from Asia and the UK's comparative advantage

Participate in an interactive Business Masterclass with:

  • Stephanie Flanders, BBC Economics Editor, facilitating the session.
  • Theo Paphitis, Businessman, star of Dragons’ Den, Chairman of Boux Avenue lingerie & Ryman Stationery and presenter of ‘Theo’s Adventure Capitalists’, who will talk about what he has learnt from following aspiring UK entrepreneurs in Asia.
  • Tamara Mellon, UK Business Ambassador and Founder and former Chief Creative Officer of Jimmy Choo, who will discuss brand building and her Asia export experiences.
  • Andrew McLaughlin, Group Chief Economist, RBS, who will give you an overview of the current economic climate and future outlook in the Asia region.
  • Chris Dodson OBE, Chairman Mortimer and Torftech Groups will describe how an SME in technology development and exploitation can successfully penetrate Asian markets and set out some successful routes to market

Keynote Speech: Explore Asia

Lord Powell of Bayswater, Co-Chair, Asia Task Force will open the session, followed by Neil Bently, Deputy Director General, CBI who will make introductory remarks. Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and skills will deliver the keynote speech explaining why UK business should look to Asia for growth.

Central Hall is within easy walking distance of Victoria, Charing Cross and Waterloo mainline stations.

Buses
Buses 11, 24, 148 and 211 pass the door.
Buses 3, 12, 53, 53X, 87, 88, 109, 159 and 453 stop nearby.

Car Parking
Public car parks operate in Abingdon Street, Horseferry Road, Rochester Row and Semley Place. There is also parking adjacent to the building on Tothill Street and Matthew Parker Street.
